When I think about this time last year, it seems like a lifetime ago!
I was writing my final dissertation for my Masters & travelling between London & Wales to have meetings with tutors. It was pretty intense & exhausting!
A lot of things have changed but there are a few things that are still the same. I’m still living at home (but hoping to move out soon), I’m still writing at my desk and still live a semi-flexible lifestyle. But I have a very different mindset from last year and my goals and aspirations have definitely changed!
So, I decided to have a look back at my 5 year journal to see if there were any major differences to the answers I had given. (Btw, I had the 5 year journal for my birthday in May last year but I answered the questions from the previous months as soon as I got it!)
I was hoping that my overused word this year would be something really philosophical and enlightening. Sigh. Yet again, my inability to relay a story to someone without saying ‘and she was like’ ‘and I was like’ lets me down. I have really tried to replace ‘like’ with ‘said’ recently because I’m starting to get on my own nerves!
I wouldn’t say that my life is completely awful but its had its fair share of ups and downs! This year, I’ve made a lot of mistakes as I go about setting up a business and beaten myself up about them for so long afterwards. But I’ve always been a strong believer in the phrase ‘everything happens for a reason’ and I still maintain that. I’ve also taken more time out to meditate & to focus on what I really want from life and through this quiet contemplation, I’ve come to the conclusion that every bad thing leads you on to something better.
Pretty much everyone in my family has this weird thing. We just cannot stand feet rubbing together – I have no idea why! I cannot go anywhere barefoot – not even around the house – as I really hate the feel of carpet on my toes too. It’s such a stupid thing but I always have socks on. At all times.
This year, I’ve met a lot of new people – a lot more than I did last year – and it’s been really interesting getting to know everyone and what makes them tick. I think as well as the answer I gave above, my other favourite question would be about a person’s childhood and where they came from – I love getting to know people from a different perspective!
And I’m afraid this final answer will remain the same for the next five years…
Have a lovely weekend!
