Bucket List | Cancer Advice

Hey lovely people!

I thought I’d share some of my bucket list that I have been forming for the last seven years with you & perhaps give you some ideas for your own 🙂

I’m actually calling it a wish list here because I think it’s a bit nicer than the term ‘bucket list.’

As you can see from the picture, most of my wishes involve travelling – there is just so much of the world that I want to see!

Here’s a few examples of what’s on my wish list – (there’s a total of 72 things so I won’t list all of them!)

Places I want to go:

  • Paris Opera House
  • Cork, Ireland
  • Norway
  • New York
  • San Francisco
  • Australia
  • Verona
  • Florence
  • Bora Bora
  • Disneyland & Universal Studios

Personal things to achieve:

  • Write something that will change things for somebody
  • Sit in a church silently for longer than two hours
  • Buy a house
  • Save someone’s life
  • Have complete faith in someone I barely know

Random things:

  • Go in a maze
  • Ride on the back of a motorbike
  • Sleep in a hammock
  • Hear a lion roar
  • Stay in a glass igloo

And wishes that have already come true?

  • Falling in love
  • Helping someone with cancer
  • Making someone smile
  • Making someone laugh
  • Running across an empty beach without my leg collapsing
  • Getting a professional massage

At the beginning of each year, I look at my bucket list and make a smaller list of things that I could possibly achieve within the year ahead. Here is my 2015 list:

  • Sit in a church silently for longer than two hours
  • Have complete faith in someone I barely know
  • Slow dance with someone in public
  • Lie in the middle of the road in the middle of the night (like in ‘The Notebook’!)
  • Go on a hot air balloon ride
  • Go in a maze
  • Visit Stonehenge
  • Go on a big rollercoaster
  • Save someone’s life (you never know!)
  • Go to Paris & visit the Opera House, La Closerie des Lilas & climb the Eiffel Tower
  • Go to Scotland
  • Go to Cork
  • Go to the Channel Islands
  • Ride on the back of a motorbike
  • Sleep in a hammock
  • Go to Verona
  • Go to Florence
  • See the fjords in Norway
  • Go to Santorini (actually happening next month!)
  • Go to Germany
  • Climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa
  • Go skydiving
  • Write something that will change things for somebody
  • Fly first class
  • Go to Disneyland (any one will do!)
  • Go to Fiji (actually happening at Christmas!)

By giving myself smaller lists, I’m able to see what is actually attainable & within my budget! Even if I never get to see all of these beautiful places though, I’m so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people in my life who make me smile every day – I’m just as happy snuggling up with my loved ones as travelling the world. And I live by something that Ernest Hemingway once said: ‘Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive.’ Living is so amazing in itself – why not try our very best to make the most of just feeling?

Let me know what’s on your wish list!
